Chapter 3 – What do bears eat?
Session 1. Books Exploring
- What do bears eat?
- Are bears good hunters?
Session 2: Video Learning
Every year grizzly bear families in North America depend for their survival on a spectacular natural event: the return of hundreds of millions of salmon from the Pacific Ocean to the mountain streams where they were born. In this clip, dozens of hungry bears eagerly await the salmon that make it up river.

Its the time of year when the salmon make their annual pilgrimage upstream to spawn, but leaping past the waiting hungry bears is no easy task.

Session 2: Art & Craft: Make a Bear

Kin kept urging me to do art with him. Initially I planned to teach felting but there is only 1 felting needle. Thus, switched to clay.

Kin made a white polar bear. He even made the green land n blue lake for the polar bear n duckling. He could relate the art work to the class lesson when he placed the polar bear near the duckling as the polar bear will eat the duck.

Kin then made a brown bear and a fish. He placed the orange fish near the brown bear’s mouth as he had learned how brown bears catch fish by the waterfall.
